With Knack part of the PS4 line-up, expect people to sign up in droves once this new feature is officially announced because Knack is king, Knack is life. If this supposed new feature comes to pass, expect just PS4 games to be a part of the downloadable library. This isn’t just a cynical business decision, though the complex nature of the PS3 as a console means that “true” backwards compatibility is something of an impossible mission. PlayStation Now includes PS3 and PS4 games as part of its service with the former currently unplayable any other way on the latter - if you want to play Red Dead Redemption on the newer console, you’re going to have to sign up. My connection speed is no slouch, but I am constantly suffering from lag and a huge downgrade in fidelity whenever I start streaming. Game Pass is killing it by allowing players to download games on the service rather than streaming them, which has been quite prohibitive for PS Now for many. This is a bit up in the air due to it really just being a rumour until we receive official confirmation, though it would really make sense. According to a Redditor, they noticed that the in-game menu for PlayStation Now housed a new, non-working button (for now) that would allow players to download games from the service. A high price combined with high speed internet demands means that it’s a luxury for most PlayStation players and not a necessity. Since launching, PlayStation Now is a subscription that hasn’t exactly exploded in terms of popularity.
